 BT Fibre 2 is a superfast fibre broadband plan with average download speeds of 67 Mb/s and average upload speeds of 18 Mb/s. It’s two times faster than regular ADSL broadband which usually slows down when connecting multiple devices or streaming HD online. Small households can expect to get more reliable connectivity with Fibre 2 due to its faster speeds.

Fibre 2  offers absolutely unlimited usage without any data caps. There is fixed monthly price irrespective of how much you will download or stream. BT also promises that it never reduces speeds at any time to manage data traffic

BT Fibre 2 cost

BT Fibre 2 is more expensive than similar similar packages from TalkTalk, Plusnet, Sky and Virgin Media. There is also one-off setup fee for your router delivery. Line rental is included while call plans will cost extra.

All BT packages come with 24 month contract while its competitors offer the plans on 18 month contract.

What is included in BT Fibre 2?

BT Fibre 2 package comes with standard features like Smart Hub WiFi router and home phone line rental with PAYG calls at specified rates. Landline features like online billing and caller display are included for no extra cost.  

There is also service guarantee ‘Stay Fast Guarantee’ which assures you of minimum speeds or you can claim £20 back. Depending on your area and postcode, BT usually provides you with speed estimate information during sign up.

BT also offers some exclusive extras to its broadband customers such as:

  • Free access to BT WiFi hotspots across the UK
  • Free BT Cloud storage – Up to free 1000GB
  • Parental controls and Virus Protect – McAfee Anti-virus protection for up to 15 devices

Fibre 2 comes with Smart Hub as standard. Smart Hub is designed to offer powerful WiFi signal, faster, reliable speeds and wider coverage in your home. It comes with dual next generation 802.11ac WiFi bands, 7 antennae, 4 Gigabit connections and built-n 4G filters.  

Its built-in features like automatic channel selection, smart scan and the latest wi-fi technology make it one of the excellent routers for better WiFi performance. 

Difference between Smart Hub and Smart Hub 2

Fibre 2 offers faster download and upload speeds when compared to Fibre 1. While both packages include features like unlimited usage, Smart Hub and BT Virus Protect as standard, Fibre 2 customers also get bigger Cloud storage.

While each plan is suited for different type of users, Fibre 1 is less expensive and can help you save money.

Is BT Fibre Essential any good?

When compared to Fibre 2, Fibre Essential comes with slower speed of 36 Mb/s and also Hub 5 which is an older router with less advanced features. 

The package also lacks in other standard features like Virus Protect and free online storage. We also don’t see much savings by choosing this plan instead of Fibre 1 or Fibre 2. 

Can I get BT Fibre 2 with TV?

As BT TV is available only with broadband, but not as as a stand-alone package, you can add Fibre 2 after choosing a TV packages – Entertainment, Sport, Big Sport and VIP. 

Is BT Fibre 2 any good?

BT is one of the most reliable fibre broadband services in with great extras that really add value to your spending.

Over-all, Fibre 2 is a premium plan with lots of options to customise and BT also offers excellent customer support which is based in the UK. 

The best features is Smart Hub for the problem-free WiFi which is boosted with BT’s superfast fibre optic broadband. 

Alternatively, you can find faster plans from Virgin Media or go for cheaper options with TalkTalk and Plusnet which offer similar plans at competitive prices.
